As 2025 approaches, we are reviewing all our… reviews. Yes, everything we asked, pushed and criticized this year. Besides the inevitable smartphone and laptop updates (it was a particularly strong year for Pixel phones, while Apple continues to offer premium phone experiences on its pro iPhones), it was also a year of impressive drones and cameras, which made Steve Dent very busy.
Unfortunately, we can't test everything, so we try to balance devices from companies with experience making things people buy and weird, exciting, unusual products and services. We've included the best gaming laptop of 2024 on the list and Apple's continued strong position with the Apple Silicone-based MacBook.
Oh, and we've included the flip side of the coin: the two worst products we've tested. Surprise! They make extensive use of artificial intelligence.

LG has just announced several of its new OLED monitors ahead of CES 2025 kicking off in earnest. The new UltraGear GX9 series features curved WOLED panels, webOS, and a low-reflection anti-glare coating. The standout achievement is the 45-inch 5K2K flexible screen, which LG says can move “from completely flat to 900R curvature in a matter of seconds.”

2023 was the hottest year on record. Last year is on track to win it. We did it, guys. World Weather Attribution (WWA) released its annual Extreme Weather report, which shows how a record 34.34 Fahrenheit increase in human-caused warming last year caused “unrelenting heat, drought, wildfires, storms and floods.” The report identified 219 events in 2024 that met “trigger criteria” for identifying influential weather events.
