President Biden took over referring to Trump, he said what the president-elect had done was “a real threat to democracy.”
Before the anniversary of the January 6, 2021 riot, at the US Capitol, Biden was asked if he still thinks Trump is a threat to democracy.
“We have to get back to building the basic norms of democracy,” Biden told reporters in the White House East Room on Sunday. “I think what he did was a real threat to democracy. I hope we can get past that.”
Biden made comments to the press after signing the Social Security Act.
Biden also discussed his plans to visit New Orleans on Monday to mourn with the families of the victims and meet with authorities after a terrorist attack in the city on New Year's Day.

“I have been there. There is nothing you can say to someone who has suffered such a painful loss. And my message will be personal to them,” he said. “They just have to stick together and the day will come when they will think about their loved one, and they will smile before the tears come to their eyes.”
