Macular degeneration is an eye disease that makes it difficult for people to see what is in front of them. While their peripheral vision is intact, their central vision is severely impaired. The smart glasses use special lens arrays and the property of Soliddd, which is similar to the eye of a fly, to project several different images to areas of the retina that are not damaged. At CES, Soliddd is showing off the beta headset version of its technology. It will also showcase a pre-production model of the smart glasses, in their near-final form factor, as the company prepares for clinical trials and a market introduction in 2025.

The advancement of SolidddVision smart glasses has been supported by physicians and scientists including several board certified ophthalmologists, retinologists and optometrists.

SolidddVision smart glasses address the low vision aid market that includes more than 20 million Americans, and approximately 200 million people worldwide – and expected to grow – who live with vision loss distorted and even true due to macular degeneration.
