Hulu Live + TV and Disney's Fubo for the mix


Disney and FuboTV on Monday announced the planned merger of Hulu Live + TV and Fubo.

The two businesses will form a virtual multichannel video programming distribution (MVPD) company that will “operate under the name Fubo Public Company,” the companies said.

Disney will own 70% of Fubo.

According to Disney and Fobo, the combination “facilitates an enhanced selection of programming packages and addresses a variety of consumer preferences at attractive prices.”

He described the planned merger of Fubo and Hulu Live + TV as “a win for consumers, our shareholders and the entire broadcast industry.”

Disney and Fobo said the latter will launch a “new sports and broadcast service” that will carry ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS and ESPN+ through a carriage agreement between the two.

According to the companies, vMVPD will “negotiate with content providers for the Hulu + Live TV and Fubo services independently of Disney.”

Once they complete the deal, customers will still have the option to get Fubo and Hulu + Live TV as “separate offerings,” they also said.

Fubo has been available since 2015.

Disney will name its next chairman and CEO in “early 2026.”

Meanwhile, Hulu first introduced Hulu + Live TV in 2017. Disney offers the service in bundles with Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+.
