Israel extends the closure of Al Jazeera's office in the West Bank Israel-Palestine War News

The move follows an attack last September by Israeli forces that closed Al Jazeera's Ramallah office for 45 days.

Israeli authorities have renewed an order to close Al Jazeera's office in the occupied West Bank, days after the Palestinian Authority suspended the network's broadcasts for four months.

The Israeli army sent an additional command to the entrance of the building that houses the offices of Al Jazeera in the central district of Ramallah, a city in the West Bank under the control of the Palestinian Authority (PA), on Tuesday morning. The document also extends the shutdown from December 22 for 45 days.

According to Al Jazeera Arabic channel, the head of Israel's army in the occupied West Bank, Avi Balut, said the order was justified because the office was being used “to encourage and support terrorists”.

Last September, the Israeli army attacked Al Jazeera's Ramallah office and issued a 45-day shutdown order.

The workers were told to leave the premises and collect their belongings. Later, the Israeli government announced that it was also removing the credentials of Al Jazeera journalists in the country.

The move followed a decision in May to ban Al Jazeera from broadcasting in Israel. Network offices were also closed for 45 days; a rule that has been extended several times.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government has been at odds with Al Jazeera. Since the start of Israel's war on Gaza last October, the network has faced repeated attempts to suppress its reporting through arrests, detentions and attacks on its journalists.

Al Jazeera has criticized and denounced the Israeli command from its office in Ramallah.

In a speech in September, the network he said: “The attack on the office and the confiscation of our equipment is not only an attack on Al Jazeera, but also an insult to the freedom of the press and the principles of the press.”

“These repressive measures ensure that the world cannot see the situation in the occupied territories and the ongoing war in Gaza and the destruction of innocent civilians.”

The PA has also suspended all Al Jazeera broadcasts from the occupied West Bank and imposed bans on anyone working on the network, saying that the channel violates Palestinian law, and that Al Jazeera is disrupting and disrupting Palestinian affairs.

Al Jazeera is to be beaten the decision, calling it “consistent with (Israel's) actions against its employees”.
