Johnny Depp has informed his millions of fans on the internet that artificial intelligence he tried to use his character to cheat his followers out of money.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor. he wished his followers a “Happy New Year” on social media before issuing a warning against “illegal schemes” prevalent on the internet.
“Sadly, it has come to my attention that online trolls are intensifying their efforts to target my fans and supporters,” Depp wrote in a post shared with his nearly 29 million followers on Instagram.

“As part of their tactics, they create many fake social media accounts and emails pretending to be members of my team.
“Today, AI can animate my face and my voice. The clowns may look and sound like the real me. But, neither I, nor my team, will ask for money or your personal information.”

Depp noted that he, along with his team, “are actively working to combat these illegal projects.” He reiterated his official social media accounts, and assured his followers that he does not “offer paid meetings, calls, band members or fan cards.”

Additionally, the “Sweeney Todd” star confirmed that he does not interact with his fanbase online through social media.
“If you're being asked for money for a meeting, phone call, membership or fan card, it's a scam,” Depp wrote.

“Also, I, my team, my agent, or my family will not contact you on my behalf asking for money or your personal information.”
