Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau said Tuesday there's not a 'snowball's chance in hell' his country will become part of the US, as President-elect Trump moves to make the northern neighbor the 51st state of the United States States.
Trudeau wrote on X. “There is not a chance in hell that Canada would ever be part of the United States.” “Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being our greatest trade and security partners.”
Trudeau's response came after Trump said Canada should be a country, speaking at a press conference Tuesday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
Trump also emphasized that if Canada were to join the United States, it would not be by using the military, but rather by “economic power.”
On Monday, the president-elect said in a public news release that “many Canadians LOVE being the 51st Nation.”
But he also emphasized that if Canada and the US were to meet, there would be no tariffs, taxes would be lowered, and Canada would be “absolutely safe” from the threats of Russia and China are “always around them.”

“Together, what a great Nation!!!” Trump shouted in his social media post.
A few weeks ago, Trump criticized Canada for considering it to be the 51st country, while posting a photo of the candidate-elect standing on top of a mountain, next to the Canadian flag.
Trump also mocked Trudeau, calling him a “governor” repeatedly, and threatened to impose large tariffs on Canada, which may have been in place. Trudeau announces resignation from the post office on Monday.

Trudeau announced his intention to step down as party leader and prime minister after pressure from within his Liberal Party grew amid strong criticism of his economic performance and threats to produced by Trump. He said he will resign once the party elects a new leader.
Trudeau, who led the country for almost a decade, has been fighting for months a significant decrease in his approval ratings due to growing frustration related to issues such as rising cost of living and rising inflation.

Trudeau's resignation means the Liberal Party could appoint an interim prime minister to lead the country until the next election, giving them a fighting chance to win back new support to the Liberal Party.
Along with his commitment to Canada, Trump has also asked Denmark to sell Greenland to the US
