AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
This is AMD's fastest and most advanced CPU to date, has 16 or 12 cores, and is purpose-built for creators and (especially) gamers. AMD says the new chip will deliver an average 8% performance boost in gaming frame rates and a 10% improvement in other tasks.
AMD Ryzen AI 5, AI 7 and AI Max
The Ryzen AI chip is not an NPU but a CPU tuned for overall performance, including AI workloads. The first Ryzen AI CPU—Ryzen AI 300—launches in late 2024, and a series of much faster successors will follow soon, led by Ryzen AI Max (available in seven different SKUs) . With up to 16 cores and support for 128 GB of memory, AMD says AI Max delivers NPU performance of 50 TOPS. AMD naturally says that the Max is surprisingly fast at all types of tasks — and boldly claims that it can compete with the Apple M4 CPU on some of those tasks. Ryzen AI chips are also set to appear in mini PC designs.
AMD Radeon RX 9070 series
AMD hasn't revealed many details about what will differentiate its latest GPUs, other than the 9070 series aimed at mid-range users. More notable is that AMD's naming scheme is evolving to be more consistent with how Nvidia names its products. The 9070 and 9070 XT will launch this quarter.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage in a sparkly coat and spent nearly two hours outlining the company's upcoming plans—and as expected, almost all of it was about AI. Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 series
It's not surprising that Nvidia has announced new graphics processors, the GeForce RTX 50 series. On desktops, these GPUs will launch at the end of January 2025. The big step forward is technology called Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 4 and Multi Frame Generation, which use AI techniques to partially generate the pixel stream instead of doing so through brute force tactics, significantly improve performance. Huang said the new graphics card has up to 4,000 TOPS of AI power. The highest-level card in the line—the 5090—will cost just $1,999.
The RTX 50 series is also being scaled down for deployment on laptops, starting in March 2025. The performance of the mobile version will be less than half that of the desktop version, but Huang said AI will make sure your laptop doesn't melt while you're using it. Prices for RTX 50-equipped laptops will go up to $2,899, offering a maximum capacity of 1,850 AI TOPS.
Nvidia GB10
This is the backbone for Nvidia project metricsThe “personal AI supercomputer” will bring Nvidia's Blackwell AI platform to the masses. Want to run inference on your desktop, offline? Digits and the GB10 “AI super chip” will make that happen—with 1 petaflop (1,000 TOPS) of performance. The system will cost a minimum of $3,000 and be ready for use in May 2025.
