It turns out that Roborock is not the only company that presented a robot vacuum cleaner with a mechanical arm at CES 2025. Competing company Dreame, which presented its climbing stairs Robot Vacuum Cleaner was also working on a robot vacuum cleaner with an arm for picking up items earlier this week.
The device is still a prototype, the company says, but the unnamed robot vacuum cleaner was on full display at Dreame's CES booth. Considering this is still a prototype, the real hand looked much more substantial compared to the one in the photo. Saros Z70 from Roborock. It was much thicker and had a large “claw” that seemed to be able to lift slightly heavier objects. (Roborock claims its vacuum can pick up objects weighing up to 300 grams.)
Unfortunately, Dream didn't show him actually grabbing anything, but I was able to watch the hand extend and retract several times. Apparently, it was on the same device as the X50, since the prototype vacuum cleaner also rose on “legs” like Dreame's stepped X50.
A Dreame representative at the booth told me that the company has been working on a prototype for some time, but decided to accelerate its plans for the vacuum at CES. After a quick glance, I realized exactly what he meant: the Dreame booth was located directly opposite Roborock, which had a huge replica of the hand-held Saros Z70 on top of the booth.
Perhaps next year we will see two robots fighting on vacuum arms.
