The bride shot a wedding party attack in southeastern France

The bride was shot dead at her wedding night in a village near the southeastern French city of Avignon after masked artillery opened fire, local employees say.

A suspected striker was also killed in an apparent fire exchange, and the bridegroom and a child of 13 were seriously injured during the incident in the village of Gult.

Dozens of police officers and a helicopter are performed for an unknown number of suspects who managed to escape.

French media reported that violence may be related to drug -related assessment.

Authorities have opened an investigation into murder and attempted murder.

Around 04:30 (02:30 GMT) on Sunday, the bride of 27 years and the 25 -year -old groom left the wedding celebration in the village when unidentified attackers opened fire, AFP News Agency reports.

Initial reports suggest that one of the attackers was driven by the couple's car, but Avignon Florence Galte prosecutor said he was hit “in exchange.”

The surviving attackers who arrived by car escaped on foot after the shooting, the prosecutor said.

A total of 28 people were present in the hall during the attack, police say. A woman was also slightly injured in the incident.

The hall was booked in March “for a wedding by people who do not live in the commune,” said local mayor Didier Perelo.

“I'm outraged,” he added. “We are close to the cities, I will not name them, where unfortunately we have seen such things before.”

Guillaume Molinas, a 50-year-old restaurant owner, said he was afraid that the deadly attack would give the village about 1,000 inhabitants “bad name”.

“The last major incident in the village was 125 years ago,” he quoted by AFP without giving details.
