The following is a transcript of the interview with representative Michael McCoul, Republican Texas, which aired “Face The Nation from Margaret Brenn” on June 29, 2025.
Margaret Brennan: And now the Texas Republican Congressman Michael Maccol, a good morning, has joined us.
Res. Michael Makkol: Good morning. Thank you for having me.
Margaret Brennan: So, your republican colleagues in the Senate are working hard to try to collect this account and they are probably going to pass it.
Res. Michael McCol: Right.
Margaret Brennan: But even with GoP legislators, such as Tom Tilis, he says she can't passing the passion for Medicaid, estimated $ 930 billion. This is more important than what you all voted at home. Are you going to vote again for the final passage when it looks like that?
Res. Makol: No, I'm going to vote for this for this reason. I think these figures are all about waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid. What I voted for is a border security measure, $ 80 billion, $ 12 billion to compensate for states like me. I vote for $ 150 billion that will go to our Defense Ministry at a time when we saw with Iran desperate. The world is burning, Eastern Europe, the Indo-Pacific region. And then a tax reduction. I mean, if we do not extend these tax reductions, it will be the greatest increase in taxes in American history for these three reasons. I am so. I think everyone in the house, they know the danger in which they don't vote on it.
Margaret Brennan: What do you mean the danger in which they are?
Res. McCaul: I think, first of all, it's good for the nation. Second, they know that their jobs are at risk. Not only from the president, but also from the vote- the American people. Our basic home will not redo us when we do not vote for it.
Margaret Brennan: But it's about re -election, or is it about politics, right?
Res. Maccol: No-no. It is a great thing for the country, and I outlined three main points.
Margaret Brennan: But to help me understand, you have such narrow profitability in the ward, and you look at these forecasts as a responsible federal budget, they say that it violates $ 500 billion instructions and more that the Senate has just raised here and this deficiency can increase more than 3 trollies. How do you experience this when you have a conservative colleagues who are fiscal hawks and say I can't get it like a swip swap?
Res. McCaul: In order not to get into the weeds on the economy, but the dynamic assessment does not take into account the Congress budget here. This means that when you reduce taxes, you actually get an increase in revenue in the treasury. And this is what we saw under President Kennedy, under President Reagan and President Bush.
Margaret Brennan: Roy chip and some of these other fiscal conservatives will come for a trip?
Res. Maccol: Well, I think after all, I think they will vote for it.
Margaret Brennan: You do. Let's talk about some of the threats you mentioned there, at home and abroad. You were informed about the actions against Iran. The IAEA director told us here that Iran has the opportunity and can work and work for months. Do you think is an overestimation of the White House or a mistake to acknowledge the mission?
Res. McCaul: Well, first of all, I respect the Mag. Their task is to check not to be a reconnaissance agency, so they do not really have a clear analysis of the intelligence that I would attribute to our intelligence community as the CIA. We met with director Ratklif. It was not just his decision. These are career staff and intelligence who have been in the CIA for over 30 years who have made this assessment that it has been badly damaged and created the program for several years. In any case, the world and the Middle East today are safer than it was seven days ago, a week ago. This is emphasized by the fact that the proxies did not light up. Russia did not come to their help. China mostly ran back to cover. Iran itself and psychologically, very damaged. Resting is valid. The damage is real. This is a skilled military operation, similar to which I have not seen from the war of my father, the Second World War.
Margaret Brennan: So, on the front of the Motherland do you deny these problems about threats? You have a national advisory system of terrorism, which states that the US threatens in the US. After the strikes, federal agents who arrested 11 foreign citizens from Iran appeared, including the one who had a connection with Hezbollah. Did you see specific evidence of any threat here in the US, or is it, as you say, just done and ended?
Res. McCaul: No, I have. We took away 11 Iranians, one of the sniper, one IRGC, the other known, suspected of terrorists, just in the last couple of days.
Margaret Brennan: Have they planned to do anything, or they just had these alliances from the past?
Res. Maccol: You know, I don't know all the details, but I will tell you that the FBI informed me in a defensive briefing after the Saleimani was killed. I was part of this–
Res. McCaul: -In in 2020–
Margaret Brennan: – What I was under the prosecution in Iran and that I was on this main list. So, you know, look- is it inevitable? I don't know. We need to take seriously the fact that there may be sleeping cells in the United States that can follow people like Mike Pump, John Bolton, you know what you know, and others who have participated in decision -making and the US president. We know he was targeted.
Margaret Brennan: When it comes to detention of migrants here in the US, it is 59,000 detainees, Ice reports. 47% of them, however, lack a criminal conviction, less than 30% were convicted of crimes. Doesn't it show that the numbers are not the worst of the worst.
Res. Maccol: Yes, I have been a federal prosecutor for many years. Fighting terrorism. You have to prioritize, right? I would prefer exacerbation crimes that have missed my mayorkas contrary to the federal law. He was detained. He said he could detain and let them outside. I would like, I would quench this at first.
Margaret Brennan: So you would prefer the internal safety to place them and not raise the numbers they are in this-
Res. McCaul: I think they are subjected to a number because 15 to 20 million people are hit by the Biden administration and they are trying to get some prudence in the US. And I think restraint is the main thing. And Margaret, she works. You know, the speed of concern at the border, and Texas is the biggest, decreased to almost zero. I mean that the border is just about safety, catch and liberation is over, and the threats are gone.
Margaret Brennan: Mike Mackol, Congressman, Thank you very much for your ideas today.
Res. Maccol: Thank you, Margaret, thank you for me.
Margaret Brennan: And we will return with a greater clash with the nation. Stay with us.
