Apple's board of directors has voted against a proposal that seeks to end the company's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
in the A proxy fileThe National Center for Public Policy Research (a conservative think tank) is submitting a proposal for Apple to “consider dismantling its inclusion and diversity program, policies, departments and goals,” the company said.
quoting the think tank's proposal that DEI programs make companies vulnerable to lawsuits. A recent Supreme Court judgment Note that other companies have canceled or scaled back similar programs in opposition to race-based hiring at colleges. (Recently, Meta removed its DEI programs.and Amazon It has been reported that it has retreated..)
However, Apple said the proposal was unnecessary because it “already has a well-established compliance program” that would keep the company out of legal trouble. “I criticize the proposal because it inappropriately seeks to micromanage the company's programs and policies.”
“We strive to create a culture where everyone can do their best,” the company said.
