New developer Old Glory Studios announced today the launch of its new crowdfunding campaign, in partnership with Folla Capital, LLC. The studio, founded by military veterans who previously worked on titles such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and The Division, plans to develop military-based titles, with its launch game being a team-based PvP shooter Victory's Grave: Outflank. In order to build this title, Old Glory has launched a “Regulation Crowdfunding” campaign, which will allow investors in the studio.
According to the founders, Old Glory will use the funding to build Victory Tomb, with a minimum investment of $500 and a final goal of $1,235,000. They will be offering SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity) interests, which will go toward “modern production, innovative marketing initiatives, and major operational expansions,” according to Folla campaign page.
Old Glory operates as a shamrock organization, according to its founders. There will be a core team — Old Glory co-founders Lewis Manalo and Matt Patak — with specific tasks outsourced to freelancers. Patak and Manalo, the studio's creative director and executive producer, told GamesBeat that the studio already has a prototype of Victory's Grave ready.

Manalo and Patak, to GamesBeat in an interview that the tactical element is the Tomb of Victory: Outflank. Patak said the game's RTS features add a new level of strategy to the game: “Every round will be a new and unique experience, allowing for maximum replayability. The game's performance will add to the realism without losing an authentic feel.” The studio also has plans for a follow-up already in place.
Manalo said part of the inspiration behind the game came from his work on Ghost Recon: Wildlands. “(That) was the first AAA game I wrote on, and when it came out I was surprised to learn that not everyone likes to play narrative campaigns. Some were only playing through the open world, and some were only playing PvP… Our vision is to realize these game modes as separate titles that share report It reduces our risk as a studio, and saves the player money while still offering them the full experience. Tomb of Victory: Outflank is the PvP game. “
Manalo told GamesBeat in an interview that Old Glory believed that crowdfunding was the most beneficial option for the unusual structure of the studio. “Crowdfunding regulation, unique in the United States, allows us to raise capital directly from investors. Unlike pledge-based crowdfunding, where people mostly buy a product, investors in Reg CF receive equity in the company. It's become very common for many industries, and there's no reason why game studios shouldn't be using it as well.”
John Panaccione, Folla Capital Partner, said in a statement, “This initiative represents a unique opportunity for investors to support a veteran-led company with a clear roadmap for success in the gaming industry . Supporting Old Glory Studios is about more than potential financial results; it's about being part of a team pushing boundaries in storytelling and game design.”
