The fan is watching you — and doing his best to cool you down. On CES 2025I stood still as the room fan noticed my presence and turned to focus on me. It was a welcome relief, especially in a stuffy lounge.
Dreo's motion-sensing fan, the PolyFan 707S, can tell when someone is in the room and even detect multiple people. I watched the motion sensitive strip as its lights switched from green to red, indicating where the Dreo rep and I were standing in his line of sight. When he stepped aside, the fan locked his focus on me alone.
The fan uses millimeter wave radar to track the occupants of the room and adjust its direction. With a 150-degree field of view and oscillation, it can cover almost the entire room when placed in a corner.
Plus, aside from the motion sensor, the PolyFan 707S is smarter than your average fan in other ways, too. It connects to Dreo's app, allowing you to control it from anywhere. It is also compatible with Google Home, Apple HomeKit and Alexa. Pricing isn't available yet, but a Dreo representative told me to expect it to cost between $150 and $200 when it launches in May 2025.
A tower fan that also heats up
This close-up of the Dreo MC706 fan and heater combo shows the heating element inside the unit. That heatsink can slide out, allowing the fan to just be a fan. When slid back, it can function as a space heater.
I saw a different Dreo tower fan it transforms into a space heater and then back into a fan. The secret lies in the mechanical heating device that slides into the front of the Dreo MC706's 2-in-1 fan and heater component. It moves like a big, slow and bulky piece of machinery — reminiscent of the retractable door in Jabba the Hutt's palace in Star Wars.
The fan quickly turns from blowing cool air (although this is not an air conditioner, just a fan) to blowing warm air. Dreo says he can make that change in just seconds. The heater is rated at 1500W and comes with overheat protection and flip detection, as you would want from any heater.
It comes equipped with a thermostat that allows you to set the temperature anywhere between 41 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and includes a remote control for added convenience.
MC706 is already on salewith an MSRP of $170.
A small heater for the whole room
If you're looking for a more affordable heater that can heat an entire room while sitting at a table or desk, I last saw another upcoming Dreo product that fits the bill. It's a circulating heater — the SH615 — and is expected to sell for about $100, a rep told me.
Dreo's SH615 Circulating Space Heater can blow heat around a room and fits on a work surface.
As a circulating heater, it functions as a compact fan with a built-in heater. Instead of simply oscillating back and forth, it uses 3D rotation to distribute warm air around the room at different angles. Its small size makes it ideal for placing on a desk or table, where it can provide steady, soothing warmth.
