Awesome Games Done Quick has already ended in 2025 (with a cool raised for the Cancer Prevention Foundation), but the charity group has other programs throughout the year that raise money for worthy causes. Two of them are hosted by Frame Fatales, a women's speedrunning community run by GDQ. The Frost Fatales group event will take place from March 9 to 16 and will raise money for the project. . just came out today and here are some highlights.
The event kicks off with a couple of my favorite games: gritty 2D platformers. Cuphead followed by wahoos Super Mario Odyssey. I was also amused that Lanaruse would be running Coffee Caravanbut with the category “Any% without coffee”. The show begins March 13 at 1:00 pm ET. The March 14 lineup looks particularly exciting, with Japeg up to the task. Snusmumrik: Melody of MoominvalleyGretaIceVixen and Corvimae show off Pokemon Sword and Shieldand Blupeu plays Undertale Yellow. Frost Fatales ends with SawaYoshi performing a series of one-handed punches. Celestewhich sounds like required viewing.
And if you can't wait until March to see some amazing philanthropic work among gamers, be sure to tune in to Back to Black, GDQ's event dedicated to black speedrunners. This year the exhibition will raise money for racial justice nonprofit, Feb. 6-9.
It's only been a few days, but Back to Black has a lot of great talent on the roster. Bobby runs anywhere Castlevania the game is a must watch and he will play Rondo of blood February 6 at 7:08 pm ET. Super Smash Bros. pro-turned-speedrunner Ryan Ford appears on the schedule twice: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX February 8 at 4:05 pm ET and Super Metroid February 9 at 8:04 pm ET.
