Patrick Mahomes is still there which does not fail against ankle wounds.
Kansas City Chiefs football player he has taken the field on Saturday, battling a sprained ankle in a 27-19 win over the Houston Texans. Mahomes passed for 260 yards on one touchdown pass and one run.
Mahomes was never a guarantee to play after exiting last Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns with a concussion. But it didn't stop him from missing practice this week, as Mahomes went through his usual routine despite the injury.

It was common ground for the three-time Super Bowl champion. Mahomes played with a sprained ankle in the 2022 playoffs, returning from the AFC championship game after being injured to beat the Cincinnati Bengals and played two weeks later to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Homes recent ankle sprains have been mild, usually taking two to four weeks to fully heal. However, Mahomes has proven to be a player who bounces back from injuries faster than expected.

The last time Mahomes missed a game with an injury was in 2019 when he missed just two games after suffering a sprained patella against the Denver Broncos.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters during the week that he was “amazed” by his quarterback's ability to return from injury so quickly.
“I've been through it before, and he surprises me every time he does it,” Reid said. “He's very mentally tough. That's the thought he got into. Where he was a few days ago, I would probably say it was a long time. He did a good job with it.”
Mahomes, meanwhile, was underwhelming and has made his presence felt this week. He suggested to reporters on Tuesday that he would not play unless he felt he could not “set a game plan” with his injury.

“I don't want to slow down the game plan,” Mahomes said. “That's another thing for me. I want to be able to move in the pocket so we don't stay in one spot the whole game and lead the D-line to follow it. So, I I almost got that measure and to see where I am, like I said, I won't know until the end of this week.”
But with the win, Mahomes and the Chiefs move closer to history. For vanity's sake, they won their 16th straight game by one game, breaking the streak set by the New England Patriots in 2004.
More importantly, they are now just one win away from securing the No. 1 seed. 1 in the AFC. That would give the Chiefs a chance to go well in the first round and home field to the Super Bowl.
Mahomes and company are looking to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. Their path to that goal has been shortened by Mahomes' recent heroics.
