Trump taps Penny Schwinn for deputy education secretary via Reuters


(Reuters) – President-elect Donald Trump has said he will nominate Penny Schwinn, a former Tennessee education commissioner, to be deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education.

In addition to Tennessee, Schwinn worked at the Texas Education Agency as deputy commissioner of standards and inclusion, deputy commissioner of exceptional people and supervision, and chief deputy commissioner of academics, Trump wrote in his Social Truth platform on Saturday.

He was also the assistant secretary of education in Delaware.

Trump initially gave Schwinn the first name Peggy but corrected it to Penny in a later post.
