Like many Americans, Harley Hurosky from Texas decided to participate in the “Dry January” movement and give up alcohol for a month after a holiday binge.
“Eating and drinking too much during the holidays made me feel really low,” Harley told Fox News Digital. “So, I thought starting the year with the goal of feeling better physically would be a smart move.”
Hurosky, who lives in Houston, hoped to build a group of supporters to not only cheer him on but join him during his alcohol-free breaks. That didn't go well.

“Naturally, I thought my friends and family would rally around me and pitch in for moral support,” Hurosky said. “In fact, the only thing they are willing to do is sit comfortably on the sidelines with cocktails in the hand.”
Hurosky decided to write down the opinions of those he asked and post their answers on social media. (See the video above this article.)

He said: “My parents made this list because, they are honest when it comes to answering the phone and because I thought their behavior would be nice, which they were. that,” he said.
“I fully expected it most of my loved ones to answer 'no,' especially since he asked them to abstain from alcohol for a month seemed like a bold move,” Hurosky said. “But their reaction – denial and laughter – was that made the video so. nice.”
The viral video it has received more than 743,000 views on TikTok since the beginning of this week.

Hurosky is a marketing manager and says he enjoys creating social media posts.
“Honestly, I just love this process. It's so much fun to create and share moments that make people smile or laugh,” he said. “My content is usually about relatable, funny situations because that's how I tend to connect with people.”

Hurosky said most of those he asked were “friendly and frequent travelers,” so he expected an overwhelming response.
“This is why I recorded the whole FaceTime,” he continued. “What I didn't expect was that the best answers would come to my parents. My dad, as crazy as I am, totally stole the show. I'm sorry for doubting you, Dad. You really did.”

Hurosky is confident he can make it through January without any alcohol.
“This is not my first time in Dry January. My boyfriend and I successfully completed it last year,” he said to Fox News Digital.
“The goal was to lose a few pounds and start playing good health.“

Although they were able to cut back on water calories last year, Hurosky said the couple “could be more profitable by taking restaurant food … Let's just say the calories we saved skipping cocktails probably came back in our delivery orders.”

But he realized other benefits of quitting alcohol.
“We really felt relaxed and enjoyed life without the dreaded hangovers,” Hurosky said.
“Dry January didn't quite fit their vibe.”
“Plus, we proved to ourselves that we can stick to this challenge and go a whole month without drinking, so I can call it a win overall.”

In the end, Hurosky said he was not surprised by his rejection this year friends and family.
