The status of Patrick Mahomes There was a lot of talk about the ankle before Saturday's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.
Although there were doubts during the week whether the star player would play with the Texans, he was able to complete the Chiefs' practice on Thursday.
Mahomes was given the opportunity to play and finished Saturday 27-19 to beat Houston with 260 meters passing.
But the three-time Super Bowl winner turned heads when he was able to get to his feet after nearly tripping and run into the end zone for the game's first score.

Mahomes was ejected in the fourth quarter of the Chiefs' Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns. Backup quarterback Carson Wentz stepped in for Mahomes and finished the 21-7 victory over the Browns with 20 passing yards.

Mahomes' 15-yard run on Saturday marked the longest run of his career. Moments after Mahomes crossed the line, broadcaster Noah Eagle wondered, “Which ankle?”

It wasn't the first time Mahomes dealt with an ankle injury.

During the 2022 NFL postseason, Mahomes sustained what appeared to be a high ankle sprain in a playoff game against Jacksonville Jaguars.

The win over the Texans improved the Chiefs record to 14-1. Kansas City had already clinched the playoff spot after winning the AFC West for the ninth consecutive year.
