With two new senators, Republicans officially have 53 members in their Senate.
Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., recently announced Moody as the next senator from Florida, replacing Rubio. He was a former state attorney.

Shortly after DeSantis made his choice, Gov. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, revealed his choice for former Lt. Government Jon Husted replacing Vance.
The final division in the upper chamber is 53 Republicans and 47 senators in the Democratic caucus.

“Thank you very much. I will bring the same persistence and passion and tenacity as a United States senator that I brought as Attorney General of Florida,” Moody said after accepting the appointment of DeSantis.
“If you've worked with me and fought with me for the last six years, you know, I don't think of this as a job. I think of it as a calling,” he added.

After DeWine's announcement, Husted said, “Governor, I just want to say thank you. It's my honor to accept the nomination to serve the people of Ohio in the US Senate. I just appreciate that you put a lot of trust in me first as a running mate, and now as lieutenant governor, and now as your nominee for the Senate.”
