Australian Open defending champion Jannik Sinner destroyed local hope Alex De Minaur in just 108 minutes.
Defending champion Jannik Sinner dashed home hopes and crushed Alex de Minaur in straight sets to take the Australian Open final against Ben Shelton.
The Italian world champion showed no signs of the illness that kept him out of action in his last match to cruise past the eighth seed 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 on Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday.
He faces tough American Shelton to reach Sunday's final against 10-year champion Novak Djokovic or second seed Alexander Zverev.
Shelton, 21, battled fellow Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7/4) to make the Melbourne Park last four for the first time.
The writing was on the wall for De Minaur and Sinner after winning all nine of their meetings – the Italian also won all of his last 20 matches against the Australian.
De Minaur was given hope after Sinner battled illness in his final 16-year-old clash, with him admitting he was “not health-wise” and was “dizzy at times” in the summer.
But the Italian showed no evidence of that strain on the chilly day of the quarter-final, moving freely and showing no signs of discomfort.
In front of a home crowd, they took a 3-1 lead after the 24th inning.
Sinner's fast bowling proved difficult for the Australian to challenge and he struggled to create chances, managing just four wickets in the opening game.
The second set followed a similar pattern with Sinner bossing De Minaur, pushing him around at will and breaking at the same time to gain control.
He was on duty and the eventual winner handed him a second break on his way to the second set in 40 minutes, the Australian shaking his head, wondering what to do.
De Minaur tried everything but had no answers, breaking twice in three sets after a series of errors as the Sinner took a clear 3-0 lead.
Sinha is aiming to defend his Grand Slam title for the first time after beating Daniil Medvedev in last year's final and is aiming to become the first Italian to win three Grand Slam crowns.
He also won the US Open last year.
