A few weeks later, Marmoush agreed a deal to stay with the Premier League champions until the summer of 2029.
Manchester City have announced the signing of the Eintracht Frankfurt player Omar Marmoush for an initial fee of $72.6m.
“The 25-year-old Egyptian international has completed a four-and-a-half-year move to the Etihad Stadium, meaning he will remain at the club until the summer of 2029,” City said. Thursday.
“Today is a day I will never forget,” Marmoush said after signing for the English Premier League champions.
“Signing for Manchester City – one of the best clubs in the world – is an amazing feeling. I'm happy, my family is proud, and we're all happy to be here in Manchester.
“With Pep, his technical staff and world-class equipment here, the players have everything they need to improve. I was very happy when I had the opportunity to come here.”
Marmoush is City's third signing of the January transfer window following the arrivals of defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
The ex-Bundesliga player's current contract is understood to include up to $5m in add-ons.

Born in Cairo in 1999, Marmoush made his debut at Wadi Degla club in the Egyptian Premier League. At just 17 years old, he was promoted to the first team and joined Wolfsburg's reserves a year later.
At Wolfsburg, Marmoush initially struggled with inconsistency and game time, leading to loan spells at St Pauli and Stuttgart.
The striker moved to Frankfurt on a free transfer ahead of the 2023-2024 season and scored 12 goals in 29 league games.
Marmoush's rise has drawn inevitable comparisons to fellow star Mohamed Salah, but the Liverpool star has warned against that.
“Omar has great potential and is an important player for his team and the national team here, but I hope we stay away from the idea of comparison because it puts him under pressure,” Salah said in November.
“Don't compare him to me.” Don't say the new 'Mohamed Salah'. Let him do his job. Comparing a player at the beginning of his career to someone who has done a lot for many years does not help him.”
City director of football Txiki Begiristain said Marmoush was “a brilliant and exciting player”.
“He had a great season, and every time we looked at him, he affected the match,” he said.
“He has everything a top striker needs. He has exceptional speed and awareness, and is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play in different positions, which is very valuable.”
His arrival at the Etihad Stadium comes at a frustrating time for City.
City, champions for the last four seasons, are fifth in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool with one more game to play.
