A week after DirecTV launched its first Streaming package for sports onlyComcast made public a similar sentence that adds news. The Xfinity Sports & News TV package includes more than 50 broadcast, cable news and sports channels with PeacockDVR storage and much more.
Although Xfinity Sports & News is widely sold and is reported to cost $70 per month, it comes with extensive fine print. (With Comcast?? No way.)
Firstly, this price only applies to Xfinity Internet or Xfinity TV customers (new or existing). You'll pay at least $90 a month if you want to use your home Internet from anywhere. Plus, your monthly price increases by $10 without automatic billing through your bank account. Autopay with a credit or debit card adds an additional $8.
So this could be between $70 and $100 per month. Plus tax. This is a very good deal compared to YouTube TV (which recently raised prices again) or Hulu + Live if you're already an online Xfinity customer who likes automatic payments.
Even then, the value of this deal will depend on whether it has all the content you need. National cable television news lineup includes CNN, CNBC, MSNBC and Fox News. It has ESPN, FS1, ACC Network, Big Ten Network, GOLF Channel and SEC Network for live sports channels. Local broadcast channels are also available, including ABC affiliates, CBS, FOX, NBC, Telemundo and Univision. Plus you get Peacock (which includes live sports broadcasts in addition to the on-demand plan) and other additional features such as 300 hours of cloud DVR storage.
If you want the best viewing experience, you need the Xfinity X1 TV Box, available only to Xfinity cable customers. But since that would be a bit overkill, you can still watch the video through the Xfinity Stream app on streaming devices like Apple TV, Year, Fire TV and mobile devices.
