Fans have been flocking to Montana and Wyoming since the series premiered in 2018, but the travel trend seems to have picked up after “Yellowstone” season five ended after a two-year hiatus.

“Fans want to become a part of what they see on their screens, and book their vacations looking for adventure and solitude. When you watch 'Yellowstone,' you can't help but be immersed in nature and horseback riding. Farm O in the wilderness,” he continued.
“These shows have been amazing for our national parks. People are flocking to the great outdoors and a lot of travel companies are taking notice,” Appleby said. “There are places that provide a unique experience for cowboys, including adventure and even fine dining.”
In 2023, Lucy Beagle, Director of Communications for Glacier Country Tourism, to The Washington Post Western Montana, where the fourth and fifth seasons of “Yellowstone” were filmed, has seen an increase in travel.

“We've definitely seen an increase in interest because of 'Yellowstone,'” Beagle said. “If Montana wasn't on the map before and if people have seen 'Yellowstone,' it certainly is now.”
The Washington Post reported that the Bureau of Business and Economic Research and the Tourism and Recreation Research Institute at the University of Montana released a study showing that Yellowstone fans will spend $730 million on tourism in 2021.
According to this study, two million people cited the Taylor Sheridan series as the reason for visiting Montana.

The outlet spoke to locals, including Hilary Folkord, who explained that Yellowstone has been “good.” For Montana and Wyoming
“It shows how beautiful Montana is. And we hope to preserve that as stewards. That's really important to us,” he noted.
“My friends from the East watch it religiously. And they tell me, 'It looks so magical and magnificent,'” he told the outlet. It's just open spaces.” “I think that's what people are craving right now. Montana gives you that.”
Carol Amos, a travel consultant for Travelmation, told Fox Business that “ranches” are drawing visitors to Montana and Wyoming to get the “American frontier” experience.

“The best way to unleash your inner cowboy is on a ranch. I've done several trips with my family in Colorado and Wyoming and everyone loves it,” Amos said.
