Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni says he has been investigated for the surprising release of the Italian citizen of Libya, who has been wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court (MHC).
In a video message shared on social media on Tuesday, Meloni said she was suspected of prosecutors to assign and support and encourage a crime.
Osama Nadim – also known as Almasry – is the head of the Libya Judicial Police and director of a scandalous center detention center near Tripoli.
Najim was arrested in Italy on January 21 and unexpectedly released days later “due to legal technicality,” the Interior Ministry said.
ICC, who said he had not been consulted, quickly issued another arrest warrant for Najim and asked for an explanation from the Italian authorities.
In the video, Meloni stated that the Court of Appeal in Rome released Naimi, since the MHC order was not sent to the Italian Ministry of Justice.
“At that moment, in order not to put it to the freedom on the Italian territory, we decided to expel it and repatriated it immediately with a special flight,” Melono said.
Last week, Justice Minister Carlo Norio stated that D -N -Naimi was expelled because of the “danger” he created – a commentary that made fun of the opposition.
The decision to release Najim was heavily criticized by the opposition and the NGO as Amnesty International, who said that Najim was guilty of “horrific violations committed with complete impunity.”
Videos that showed a cheerful crowd that welcomed the N -Naimy when he retreated from an Italian government aircraft in Tripoli caused a particular disturbance.
Meloni said Norio, Interior Minister Mateo Pianedosi and the Cabinet Secretary on Intelligence, Alfredo Manto, have also been investigated. Being under an investigation in Italy does not mean that official fees will necessarily follow.
In a challenging tone, the Italian prime minister seems hinted at political motives for the investigation.
