Footage released by the Peruvian police show that a man attacking a famous artifact of an inch in Cusco, with what they have identified as a metal object.
According to the City Ministry of Culture, the incident caused “irreversible damage” to the stone with 12 corners, which was once part of an ancient palace.
Later, the suspect was detained and the authorities said they believed that the person behind the attack was intoxicated.
The stone is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of the advanced stone structure of the Inca civilization.
