Airstrikes have been reported in two cities in Yemen.
Witnesses and ruling Houthi rebels said the country's main international airport and a military base were attacked in the capital Sanaa, while a power plant in the western port city of Hudeidah was also hit, AFP news agency reported.
Israel said it carried out the strikes and that its air force attacked Houthi “military infrastructure”.
Yemen's Houthi-run Al Masirah TV channel reported that three people were killed in the strikes and 11 others were wounded.
Two of them were reportedly killed at Sana'a airport and the other at Ras Isa port.
It is unclear whether they are civilians or Houthi rebels.
“(Israeli) fighter jets carried out intelligence-based strikes against military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime along the west coast and in the interior of Yemen,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he was at Sana'a airport at the time of the attack.
“When we were about to board our flight from Sana'a, about two hours ago, the airport was subjected to an aerial bombardment,” he wrote to X.
“One of our plane's crew members was injured. At least two people were reported killed at the airport.”
Iran described the strikes as “a clear violation of international peace and security”.
Houthi rebels have been attacking Israel since the early months of the Gaza war, which began in October 2023.
Houthi missile strike injured more than a dozen people in Israel last week.
Israel has carried out periodic strikes against the Houthis in retaliation.
Earlier this week, Israel's defense minister said the country was preparing to “deal a heavy blow” to the Houthis, warning that it would “behead” the group's leadership.
The Houthis are an armed political and religious group supported by Iran. The group has ruled large parts of western Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, since ousting the internationally recognized government in 2015.
