Trump-Zelenski Row signals a major crisis that is emerging for NATO

The connection between Donald Trump and Volodimir Zelenski was bad enough before the shouting match in the oval office.

President Trump has already called him a dictator and said that Ukraine started the war – which is a lie.

Now the US-Ukraine Alliance, fueled by Joe Biden, is in pieces.

The public collapse also signals a major crisis between European NATO and US members.

There will be many more doubts and questions about the US commitment to European security outside Ukraine. The largest thing is whether President Trump will keep his predecessor Harry Truman in 1949 to cure an attack on NATO ally as an attack on America.

These concerns are based on what seems to be Trump's determination to restore strong relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He put intense pressure on Ukraine, while offering Putin's Ukrainians – this should be done by the Ukrainians.

Ukraine's security comes poor in second place – and Europeans are worried too.

President Zelenski's refusal to make these discounts angered Trump.

Not only the mineral deal he refused to sign. Ukrainians believe that they are at war for national survival – and that Putin would break any promise to end the war if he was not deterred.

That is why Zelenski repeatedly asked the American security guarantees.

The match was lit in a calling match after an intervention by Vice President JD Vance.

Now there is suspicion that public order was – in the words of a diplomatic observer – a planned political enchantment: either to force Zelenski to carry out America, or to accelerate a crisis that would allow them to blame him for whatever happens.

If Trump follows the collapse of the conversations with freezing military assistance, Ukraine will fight. The questions are how effective and for how long.

The pressure will double on its European allies to deal with the weak.
