Dr. Congo accuses Rwanda of counterfeiting of genocide -related fighters

The army of the Democratic Republic of Congo has accused Rwanda of dressing prisoners in military uniforms in an attempt to hand them over as newly established rebels related to the genocide in Rwanda.

It comes after the Rwanda -supported M23 in the Eastern Dr. Congo said they have captured fighters from the Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR), a militia founded by the ethnic hut that has participated in the genocide since 1994 against the Tutsis of Rwanda.

But the military C Congo said a video claimed to show that the transmission of 20 FDLR rebels to the border crossing was “falsified”.

The M23 fighters are advanced through the eastern Congo of January, seizing Bukavu and Goma, the largest city in the region.

The fighting has forced about 500,000 people from their homes, worsening already acute humanitarian crisis, according to the UN.

In their statement, the Congoan military said the video in Rwanda was “a fake bad taste incident, orchestrated with the sole purpose of discredit our army.”

It says Rwanda has taken old FDLR prisoners and dressed them in new military uniforms to claim that they were recently captured in Goma.

“This is part of Rwanda's strategy to justify the invasion of parts of the DRC territory,” she added.

Rwanda uses the presence of FDLR forces in the Eastern Congo to justify its support for M23.

The country earlier denied to support the M23, but also stressed that due to the presence of FDLR in the Eastern Congo, it has the right to take hostilities in the East Congo.

UN experts have previously estimated that between 3000 and 4,000 Randan troops are in the Eastern Congo.

UN experts also announced last year that Congoan military was using several armed groups, including FDLR, such as proxy in the fight against M23.

The genocide in Rwanda was held over 100 days in 1994.

The Hutu Ethnic Militia, involved in the murder of up to 800,000 people – the vast majority of the Tutsi community – fled to what is now Congo, some of which form FDLR.

Kagame, who headed the power of Rebel Tutsi, which put an end to the murder more than three decades ago, sees this “genocidal militia” as an existential threat.

Thursday, firing and explosions torn through a rally Holded by rebel leaders in Bukavu, the second largest city in the east. Videos showed chaotic scenes with bodies on the streets after the crowd escaped.

M23 rebels Seized Bukavv from Government Forces last month After their rapid progress through the region.

The rally was addressed earlier by Cornei Nanga, head of the Union of rebel groups, which includes M23.

The rebels have accused the government of the President of the Congo Felix Tshiziekedes in the organization of the attack. However, Tshisekedi accused him of a “foreign army”, which he believes operated on the east.

The African Union and the UN have called for the termination of fire and the rebels to withdraw from the areas they are now controlled.
