Former FIFA president Sep Blather and French football legend Michel Mountains are returning to court in Switzerland to be brought before charges of fraud.
In 2022, the couple was justified in the process of paying 2 million Swiss francs (£ 1.6 million), made on platinum and authorized by Blatter in 2011.
Both men denied misconduct and said the transfer was late for FIFA's consultative work by Platini, which previously managed the UEFA European Football Governor.
But the Swiss Federal Prosecutor appealed the decision. The new process is expected to continue until Thursday, with the sentence due to March 25.
The couple appeared before the Court of Appeal in Mouther, near Basel, on Monday. The 88 -year -old Blatter confirmed that he was innocent.
“When you talk about lies, lies and fraud, it's not me. It doesn't exist throughout my life,” he told the court.
A 69 -year -old Platini lawyer said the lower court, who acquitted the couple in 2022, was “the right to find that the disputed payment of 2 million francs was legal”.
Platini had a famous playing career and is a three -time winner at Ballon d'Or – the highest individual football award in Europe.
He captain of France at the 1984 European Championship victory and won the European Cup in 1985 with Juventus. He continued to train the French national team and became President of UEFA in 2007.
In 2015, prosecutors accused the FIFA fraud couple for payments made to Platini.
In his testimony to the first test, Blatter said he asked Platini to work as his advisor in 1998. He added that at that time FIFA could not afford the Swiss Francs annual fee requested by Mountain.
Instead, they were settled on a partial payment, and the unpaid balance will be paid on a later date. Platini said during the trial: “I trusted the president and knew he would pay me a day.”
He stopped working for FIFA in 2002, but initially did not pursue the payment, as he told the court that he did not need the money at that time and – according to Blatter – FIFA was “broken”. In January 2011, however, Platini believed he was able to send an invoice and the money was paid after approval by Blatter.
Following an investigation launched in 2015, Swiss prosecutors accused Blatter and Platini of counterfeiting and fraud.
Also in 2015, FIFA stopped both football men for ethics disorders – initially in eight years, although their exceptions were later reduced.
In 2022, the Federal Criminal Court of Switzerland in Belinzon cleared the two after accepting their account as a “Lord's Agreement” on payment.
Swiss businessman and sports administrator Blatter joined FIFA in 1975, became Secretary General in 1981 and then president of the 1998 world football governing body.
He has remained in the role for 17 years until he resigned against the background of corruption investigations. Subsequently, Platini withdrew his own presidential application.
