Nothing phone 3a and 3a pro are fun, glossy and accessible

London -based technology firm nothing He was thrilled before With its light Android phones providing much needed frivolity in a world full of ordinary, gray smartphones that are taken too seriously. Nothing phone 3a and 3a Pro are cut from the same cloth as their predecessors, packing solid comprehensive specifications, acceptable pricing and led injection design markings that stand out from the crowd.

Nothing Thone 3a is the basic model in the new series, starting at $ 379 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage. In the UK, you can pick up a modern model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for just £ 329, or get the 12 GB/256 GB model for £ 379. Telephone 3a Pro has a full -time system of cameras from the base 3a, but divides the same processor, display and batteries. It costs 459 USD (£ 449) for the 12 GB/256 GB.

I tested the Nothing Thone 3a Pro while on the field in Barcelona for this year Mobile World Congress. I am very interested in the balance of the price and performance of the phone and look forward to seeing how it handles other available phones such as the new new Samsung galaxy a series And Google Pixel 8a – as well as more expensive budget phones such as iPhone 16e.

Flashy design

Glossy lights? Yes, please.

The design is the first thing to stand out for these phones. The glass back reveals screws and data ribbons, giving it an industrial look that I think is attractive. LED lights – what nothing calls glyph – they scatter around the units of the camera and phones and illuminate to warn you of incoming notifications. They are fun adding anything to the phones you won't find elsewhere.

Both phones have 6.7 -inch screens that looked light and vibrant during my practical time, easily opposed to the gray, cloudy weather in Barcelona. Those under California's Light Non -Non -Non -Light Sun can have a different experience. With IP68 water resistance rating, calls to pour rain (again, not you, California) will not be a problem.

Solid performance, Android 15 and AI

The screen is vivid and sharp.

The Powering The 3A Series is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 processor, which provided decent grades to our benchmark tests, especially given the price of phones. Until today's Leaders of phonesThe results of 3a pro are more in accordance with Pixel 8a and Galaxy A35 5GBoth are great phones.

In everyday use, the phone has a lot of power for the basic tasks, while the games like the Odyssey of Alto and vampire survivors have been smoothly.

Both phones work with Android 15 in their core, but nothing adjusted the interface with a strict, monochrome aesthetic. It looks elegant, but sometimes I struggle to distinguish applications when they are reduced to minimalist black and white buttons. However, you may be in a mono look, and if not, you can adjust the look to your taste. Nothing promises a total of six years of software and security support, which is good, especially given the price.

Gemini Advanced, Live Gemini and Search Circle are available for use of phones, and until nothing is thrown into a large part of your things for you (for which I am grateful), she started a tool I like. Called basic space, it is designed as a Central Center for keeping your thoughts, notes, screen images and ideas during the day.

The essential space will be filled with all your thoughts and ideas. Maybe.

Take a look at a few shoes you like? Open the camera and use the dedicated basic space button on the phone side to save the recording – along with your voice note for them – on your space. Should you buy bri, vodka, fun hats and snake food on the way home? The long press button will allow you to dictate your purchase list to add it to your space to check later.

It's a beautiful idea in theory, though it now seems to be limited in its functionality. The essential space is essentially a screen image center and speech notes, but I see its potential. It is refreshing to find a feature that is unique and really useful. Nothing emphasizes that the basic space is still in beta, with more road features – so be careful in this space.

Good enough cameras

Both phones pack 50-megapixel main cameras and until nothing says Pro Model has an upgraded automatic focus and dynamic range, I haven't been able to compare them yet, so my thoughts here are based on my use of 3A Pro phone.

Taken with the main camera, this recording is vivid and sharp.

Despite the challenging scene with high contrast, phone 3a Pro makes decent working balancing of bright highlights and shaded areas.

There are different filters, but I especially like the black and white.

While the base 3a packs 50 megapixel telephone camera capable of 2x optical zoom, the 50-megapixel Perisc. of 3A Pro offers a 3x optical zoom, with a 6x “in-sensor” zoom, which effectively owns the sensor out to achieve a longer zoom.

The 3A basic phone has a 32-megapixel front camera and 3a Pro has a 50-megapixel sensor, which is larger to help get sharper shots.

Testing the Pro front camera was the perfect excuse to get a big beer. The image itself is good, especially given the relatively low light of the environment.

Nothing phone 3a, 3a pro or rival phone?

I'm surprised at how little difference between the two models. With the same processor, display and 5,000 mAh battery (with fast charging 50W), the main differences are the added periscount zoom and a higher resolution camera. Is photography important to you? If so, maybe spring for pro. Otherwise, save a few dollars and go to the basic model.

Both phones seem to offer a solid overall experience at a real reasonable price. At $ 379, it's much for a phone that can handle almost nothing – especially when Apple thinks $ 599 is “affordable” iPhone 16e. However, unless you need a new phone right away, it may be worth waiting to see how the newly released Galaxy A26 and A36 on Samsung, or if Google's Pixel 9a is almost around the corner.
