According to the KBA website, Tesla sold 1,429 cars in Germany, a decline of 76%, an even greater decline than the 60% fall in January. Electric vehicle sales generally rose 30.8% to 35,949 in Germany.

KBA does not provide reasons for the sales developments.

Earlier this week, data showed that Tesla, whose CEO Elon is a councilor to US President Donald Trump, also suffered a major sales decline in Scandinavia and France in February from a year ago.

Musk's support for South-South parties in Europe, including AFD Germany who came second in the national elections last month, appears to have hurt Tesla's sales on the continent, which was down 45% in January from a year earlier.
