Dozens of people in the Sudanese state of Northern Darfur are afraid of dead after a strong firing at a camp for displaced people.
The Paravilian Fast Support Forces (RSF) attacked a crowded market in Abu Shuk, a camp on the outskirts of El-Fasher, for about two hours on Tuesday night, a local BBC employee said.
The camp is home to more than half a million displaced people, and its market attack is the second in three days.
El-Fasher is the last big city in Darfur under army control and has been under the siege of RSF for almost a year.
The attack on Tuesday against Abu Shuk was held at the most busy day of the day. The population of the camp is mainly Muslims who watch the Holy Month Ramadan and many of them have shopped in the market, preparing to break their post for the day.
The firing caused several injuries ranging from mild to severe, said Dr. Ibrahim Nadyan, a doctor at El-Fasher's last functional hospital, told the BBC.
Abu Shu was also fired at RSF on Sunday, in an attack that killed six civilians, local health volunteers said.
RSF did not comment on the attack on Sunday or Tuesday.
Ever since he broke out in April 2023, the war killed tens of thousands of people, forced millions of his homes and left many facing the hunger.
Both RSF and the army have been charged with atrocities, with RSF charged with a genocide in Darfur against Nearabian groups in the region.
The conflict divided the country by controlling the army north and east, while the RSF holds the greater part of the Darfur region to the west and parts of the south.
In recent weeks, the army has been seizing parts of Hardum and the surrounding areas of RSF.
