Beijing-Minister of Foreign Affairs China Wang Yi issued a more conciliatory tone of US relations during a high-profile press conference on Friday, as opposed to the ministry More aggressive Language earlier this week.
While Wang said that the US should not apply “arbitrary tariffs” or return with hostility, he emphasized that both countries would be part of the world for a long time, requiring “peaceful coexistence”.
“Considering extensive common interests and a wide space for cooperation, it is fully possible that China and the USA become partners who help each other,” said Wang in Mandarin, through official translation.
Most of the 90 minutes of a press conference spent talks about China's efforts to improve relations with other countries and support the interests of non -wandering nations.
Wang is also the director of the Foreign Affairs Office at the Communist Party of the Central Commission of China, which makes him the oldest diplomat of the country. He talked to reporters during the annual parliamentary meeting of China, known as “two sessions”.
His comments appeared shortly after China hit against the growing trade tariffs of the US President Donald Trump.
“If war is what the United States wants, whether a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we are ready to fight to the end,” said the Chinese embassy in the USA on Wednesday on X.
