BbcFrench police stopped train services to and from Paris Gare du Nord Station on Friday after an unexplored World War War bomb was found on tracks leading to the terminal, train companies reported.
The bomb was found on the tracks in the area of Saint Dennis, a suburb of Paris at night, a statement Eurostar said.
All local trains to and from the station have been canceled from Friday morning, while Eurostar's trip along the routes of London-Paris, Paris-London, Brussels-Paris and Paris-Brussels have been canceled throughout Friday.
Brussels-Marne La Valle, London-Brussels and London Amsterdam trains work normally.
“Due to the opening last night of an unexplored World War II bomb at work carried out on the tracks in St. Dennis (north of Paris), the traffic is completely stopped for and by Garey Du Nord,” Eurostar said.
Passengers can exchange their ticket for free to travel on another date or time in the same class, provided that availability, the train company said.
“Eurostar genuinely apologizes for the interruption and understands the inconvenience it can cause,” the company said.
Tails began to form from 8:30 GMT at St Pancras railway station in London as passengers tried to make their next steps.
One group approached the front of the line after waiting for two and a half hours.
Their train from 07:00 GMT was canceled and they planned to travel to Lille and make a three -hour bus trip to Paris.
Ivana Corallak told the BBC that she had decided to cancel a trip to see her elderly mother and nephew in France.
She said she was unable to boare for three weeks, as ticket machines at the station did not offer the discount she originally received.
