Internal divisions within the MAGA movement over H-1B visas persist in X Elon Musk Attacking the show's critic on Friday, using an offensive quote from Tom Cruise's character in the movie “Tropical Thunder.”
musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who were tapped by President-elect Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), argued earlier this week that American culture has not sufficiently prioritized education and therefore hired foreign workers for tech companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Mask is required.
Many tech companies have embraced the H-1B visa program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in specialized jobs, but critics of the program say H-1B holders are often chosen for jobs over U.S. citizens. One reason for this is that foreign workers are tied to their respective employers through H-1B visas—because a company is required to sponsor the visa—and so quitting could ultimately lead to the loss of the visa and the ability to become foreign workers. to remain legally in the country.

On Friday, Musk doubled down on his defense of the program, criticizing a user on X who used a video of Musk talking about SpaceX's processes to pursue the billionaire's position on the visa program.
“The reason I'm in America, along with many of the critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla, and hundreds of other companies that make America strong, is because of H1B,” Musk writes in X.
He then went on to quote 2008 action comedy movie, which was a box office success.
Musk said: “Take a big step back and face yourself.”
The line, though not verbatim, comes from a scene in the film where Tom Cruise's character Les Grossman, a bald, grumpy studio executive, roars at a group of kidnappers in a memorable scene.
Grossman then goes on to threaten the kidnappers, saying that he will “scorch the earth” and “massacre” them. The outburst silences the kidnappers and Rick “Packer” Pack actor Matthew McConaughey. Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black and Nick Nolte also played roles in this movie.
Musk also alluded to Grossman's bellicose stance with User X, concluding his post last Friday by writing, “I'm going to war over something you can't understand.”

Musk then went on to engage with other commentators on the issue, saying he agreed with the poster who wrote that the visa program needs reform and that Musk would “protect meritocracy and the American dream for tech innovators at all costs.”
Elsewhere, Musk agreed in a separate post that Google, Intel And Tesla All are founded or built by immigrants, and H-1B visa employees for large tech companies are actually capped at 15 percent. The post noted that a third of the jobs in this sector go unfilled every year, and foreign workers are needed to fill this shortfall in the short term.
On Christmas Day, Musk wrote that he and his companies prefer to hire Americans — and that it's much easier than going through the “incredibly painful and slow work visa process.”
“However, there is a severe shortage of very talented and motivated engineers in America. It's not about handing out opportunities from a magic hat. You don't get it. It's blindly when you look at NBA teams. , as the physical differences are obvious, Musk wrote: They are very clear to see.
However, mental differences between humans are much greater than physical differences!!

He also wrote that employing immigrants is essential to America's future ingenuity.
“It comes down to this: do you want America to win or do you want America to lose,” he wrote. “If you force the best talent in the world to play for the other side, America will lose. End of story.”
This isn't the first time Mask has used Tropic Thunder online. In August, he Made the same line about Thierry Bretona French business executive and former European Commissioner for Internal Markets and Services, who threatened X with censorship.
