Electrical condition is the latest Netflix adventurous film, with great budget sciences. The film, which was premiered on Friday at Strimmer, is an adaptation of Simon StylenhagDystopian graphic novel. It takes viewers into an alternative version since 1994. It is set up in a very different America in the middle of a country that is still gathering after the civil war between robots and people breaking cities.
If it sounds dark, it's because the original theme is just that. The story of Stylenhag, as well as much of his work, is burdened with beautiful images that neutralize the sad narrative.
In an electrical state, Milie Bobby Brown He is played by Michelle, a young woman who engages in post-apocalyptic maw to find her missing brother. Remains of the robotic war are located in the villages of America, leaving the mission to feel impossible. That's until he meets Kits (played by Chris Pratt) and his robot Sideak Herman (Anthony Mackie). Together, they face an unusual characters and struggle with the chances of connecting with her younger brother and, potentially, humanity.
If that sounds a little cheek, it is. And that's all by design. You see, this version of the electrical situation – now the most expensive film Netflix has ever made it – it has a completely different tone from the desired book on which it is based. This tonal shift was a glued point for many critics. But there is a special reason for this change.
As a friend of the producer and I mean, There were meetings. This was a collective decision that Roussos made with Stylenhag. During a conversation with Zoom with OEO and Anthony Rousseau, I used this topic to start our speech, which turned into a non -fainting exploration of the long process of adopting an electrical state.

“What we wanted the most about the electrical state was the work of art and the themes,” Oeo Rousseau said. “But we felt like, as parents, topics – and these are topics of technology and technology dependence – they will be the most resonant and influential with the younger audience that is more immersed in technology than an older audience.”
Accessibility was the key. And it wasn't just the Rousseau brothers who felt this way.
“Simon Stilenhag also has children and agreed,” he continued. “So, we came to that conclusion. You can tell a story in any tone and you can go in any direction you want. Part of the adaptation party is to adjust it to a new form of yourself. So, that was the intention of switching the tone: to reach that younger, wider audience.”
During the 2-hour running time of the film, two themes are repeated: exclusion of mankind to implement technology in our daily lives and dependence on dopamine that comes with it. Let's paraphrase Kendrick LamarRusso tells younger viewers to “turn off the TV”.
Chris Pratt is Kits and Milli Bobby Brown is Michelle in the electrical state of Netflix.
But how exactly do they reconcile the fact that they convey this message to reduce the screen time through a story that must be viewed on the screen to begin with?
“There are only so many ways to reach a wide audience,” Oeo Rousseau said. “Whether it's a movie screen, tv screen or Phone Screen, I will Argue that all have positives and negatives. In a lot of ways, you are disconnecting from the world to watch a story. Time, Can also Call attention to perhaps what we see as the overuse of narratives to Escape Reality? As a way to Escape Reality or to Treat our undiagnosed problems with anxiety and depression. ”
It is worth noting that this is not an anti-technological propaganda film. Going in that narrative direction would be too easy. Anthony Rousseau agreed, saying: “The message for this film is not, Do not use technology.
He continued: “The film is about our paradoxical relationship with technology and the fact that there are positive aspects of technology; There is a real human relationship that you can find in technology, but you can also find the opposite. “

He cited two examples from the film to support this statement: Keats' original oversee with his robot Herman and the use of Michelle's technology to liberate her brother.
I can't talk about the electrical state without talking about the magical visual effects. It can be said with certainty that there were more robots than real human characters in the film. Dealing with such a creative challenge means working tirelessly to ensure that technology looks and felt analogous. ADE admitted that the differentiation between practical effects and CGI was difficult. It is an achievement by itself.
So how much was it digitized and how real? I have no correct statistics. “Whenever the actors communicated with the robot, we threw those robots,” said Anthony Rousseau. More specifically, they threw talented actors to shoot movement to play those robots.
“They are real, completely dimensional actors who have been training for weeks and practiced for weeks and helped us develop those characters for weeks before we hit the set,” he continued. “As to how they moved, we had performers to play those robots.”
The development of these unique robotic characters did not stop there.
“Many of those robots were expressed by more famous actors,” Anthony Rousseau said. “We would show those conceptual art actors we had for the characters, we would take off their voice performance, and use that voice performance with our movement recording troupe.”
The finished product is here after two years of post-production, during which more sophisticated digital graphics were carried out. “It took a long time in the post to get those things to look real and as they were there,” Anthony Rousseau said. “There were so many layers and it was a commitment to a very real, tactile performance of the beginning between robots and actors.”
The robot's apocalypse looks a little different in the electrical state of Netflix.
It's been almost three years since Anthony and Oeo Rousseau began to record the electrical condition. During our speech, it was easy to see how connected they continued to be with the subject and each other about their Loveub for the conveying emotions through stories. As Anthony Rousseau said, that's the relationship he hopes viewers will experience after watching the film together.
“We think it can be a powerful form of human relationship and that, of course, is a big topic in films,” Anthony Rousseau said. “How does people join?
With the knowledge of his brother's laughter, Anthony Rousseau brought our conversation by saying with a hearty smile, “that's really what made us fall for a movie in the first place.”
