LG just ahead of CES 2025. The LG Signature model comes with a 27-inch FHD display. We can finally watch something for the 90 seconds it takes for the popcorn to pop. Let's never go screenless!
It's a touchscreen display that's described as “immersive entertainment right in the kitchen.” The microwave also connects to Wi-Fi for streaming content and has built-in speakers. We don't know what OS it runs on or if it has access to all existing streaming platforms. Traditional LG smart TVs run webOS, so perhaps it's the same here.
The company is also keeping mum on whether this screen is ad-supported or not. Placing a bunch of ads right in your kitchen sounds like something that would make executives salivate in the boardroom. LG is already running full-screen ads on .
The touchscreen integrates with the LG ThinQ Smart Home Dashboard, which lets you control compatible Matter and Thread devices. It can also be paired with the company's induction oven to display cooking progress indicators, thereby “eliminating the need to bend over and check the oven manually.” What a misfortune, all this bending over.
LG hasn't revealed pricing or availability for this swanky new device. We'll likely know more when CES 2025 starts in earnest on January 7. We'll be there to let you know what it's like to watch. Secret standing in front of the microwave oven.
Company . The company also announced a new refrigerator with an OLED display and a washer/dryer with an LCD display. I'm all for expanding entertainment options, but what happens if those displays break? It seems like buttons and knobs are easier to repair or replace than a giant touchscreen.
