European markets are expected to open flat to bearish on Tuesday ahead of the New Year's holiday.

London FTSE100 the index is expected to open 20 points lower at 8,100 and the French level CWC 40 you can see the opening 5 points lower at 7.309. Both stock exchanges will close earlier today.

Stock exchanges in Germany and Italy are closed all day. All European markets will close on New Year's Day before reopening on January 2.

European markets closed lower on Monday after the last full session of the year, but regional shares look set to end the year with moderate gains. The Stoxx 600 index is up about 5.5% so far this year, although it lags far behind the U.S. S&P500 index, which increased by approximately 25% over 2024.

Traders will once again pay attention to shares of companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange Boeing after one of its planes fatally crashed in South Korea on Sunday.

Boeing shares decreased by approximately 2.2% on Monday. South Korean authorities are ready conduct an investigation in the disaster that killed 179 people, trying to determine its exact cause.

Boeing 737-800, the model involved in the crashit is one of the most widely used aircraft in the world and has an excellent safety record.

US stock futures were slightly lower ahead of the last trading session in 2024, following another strong year on Wall Street. Asia-Pacific markets fell overnight as China's production growth was lower than expected. Nevertheless, the country's CSI 300 benchmark index was on track to end the year in positive territory, ending three years of losses.
