After many years of passionate calls to the Oscar recognizing the art of stuntmen, the Film Academy decided to give him an official prize.

“From the early days of cinema, Krask Design was an integral part of filming,” said in a joint statement the general director of the Academy Bill Kramer and president of the Janet Yang Academy.
“We are proud to honor the innovative work of these technical and creative artists and congratulate them on their commitment and dedication in achieving this momentous opportunity.”
Among its ranks, the production and technology department of the Film Academy has over 100 stunt contractors.

“Chris O'Hara and I spent years working to revive this moment, standing on the shoulders of stunt professionals who fought tirelessly for recognition for decades. We are extremely grateful.”
The stunt designer is a relatively new marking. For work on AutumnO'Hara was the first person who was recognized as such.
“The film community is seen as stunt designers, hopefully, it will bring more light to what we really do,” said O'Hara for the Associated Press in 2024.
“At that time, cowboys were cowboys. Now we are creative. We create amazing things, just like a production designer or costume designer.”
Oscars paid tribute to the stunt community with video editing during the 2024 ceremony, looking back at more than 100 years of Hollywood acrobatics from Chaplin and Keaton until Mission: Impossible AND Matrix.
Other prize shows were ahead of the curve while celebrating acrobatics: Emmys Honors Coordination and Stunt Performance, and the Guild Actors Awards are recognized by stunt bands on television and film.
