The best thing about starting a new year isn't setting goals or striving for self-improvement, but watching Awesome Games Done Quick. AGDQ is one of the premier speedrunning events: a full week of highly skilled gameplay and spirited gamers raise money for charity. The winter beneficiary of the organization is Cancer Prevention Foundationwhich implements programs aimed at stopping cancer before it starts, focusing on early detection and prevention.
The fun starts on January 5th and there's plenty to see. GDQ events showcase a great mix of modern and retro games from almost every genre. Expect a lot of platforming like Astro Botone of ours favorite new game releases 2024, which will take place on January 6 at 6:30 pm ET.
Wednesday is full of good things like New Super Mario Bros. Wii with the unusual “Any% While Playing Piano” category, which you can see at 4:43 p.m. ET. The beloved and hilarious horror block will also take place on January 8th, kicking off with a truly terrifying game. Superman 64 at 11:24 pm ET. And the whole final day looks great: there will be another intriguing musical category for you: “Exhibition of a Saxophone-Controlled Boss.” Elden Ring. Cool!
