A man was detained for supplying drugs former One Direction star Liam Payne before he fell to his death from the third floor of his hotel room in Buenos Aires last year.
Brian Paiz, who is accused of supplying cocaine to Payne, is one of the five accused in connection with the death of the 31-year-old singer. On Friday, he was arrested by the Argentine police. He is one of two men accused of supplying Payne with drugs.
Paiz's attorney confirmed to CBS News that he had been detained.
Earlier, an Argentine judge confirmed the charges against five people. The remaining three people — a businessman who was with Payne and two hotel managers — have been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
According to A., two managers saw Payne intoxicated and unable to stand in the hotel lobby before his death news release from the prosecutor's office, but allowed him to go up to his room, which had a balcony, instead of watching him until medical help arrived.
Payne's autopsy revealed that he died of multiple injuries and external bleeding. Toxicology tests after his death found that he had “traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescribed anti-depressant” in his body before he died. Prosecutors ruled out the possibility that he committed suicide.
One Direction has been one of the most successful boy bands of recent times. This was announced by Mr indefinite break in 2016 and Payne — like his predecessor classmates Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — pursued a solo career.
