Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman met Friday with the family of Lyle and Erik Menendez while the new police officer is trying to make the brothers angry.
The meeting and press conference that followed came after Menendez's family called the new sentence “revealing Erik and Lyle's abuse, trauma, and showing the recidivism of years past.” of 35.”
“As we prepare to meet with DA Hochman, our family hopes for an open and fair discussion,” the family said in a statement released Thursday evening before the meeting with Hochman. “Despite the abuse they endured as children and the injustice of their current sentence, Erik and Lyle Menendez have spent the past three decades taking responsibility for their actions and putting a positive hand in their community through leadership and restoration.”
The brothers were sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 1989 fatal shooting of their parents in their Beverly Hills, California, mansion. The case returned to the national scene after former Los Angeles County Attorney George Gascón offered his support for the lawsuit.

At a press conference, the newly sworn in district attorney he said the meeting with the family was “revealing.”

“It was a very productive meeting where they gave me all their thoughts on what should happen in this case, their experiences that they wanted to share, the ways they wanted this case to go. it,” Hochman said. “It was a very productive conversation for a few hours.”

The district attorney said his office is working hard to review thousands of pages of transcripts and court records from the case.
“Currently, the hearing of criticism is set for January 30 and 31. That day is the day we are dealing with. And if that changes, we will definitely let you know,” he said. “We will continue to do this difficult but important task of reviewing the legal facts to make the right decision in this case.”

Hochman said his office expects to have a decision by the Jan. 30 hearing date.

Hochman did not reveal what he said and familythey say it's “informal, informal communication.”
He said: “We will use the necessary time to prepare this decision. “There is not much free time in my life now, but that's okay. I didn't sign up for a job that said I would have a lot of free time.”
