On July 11 Introducing the newest DC universe With the launch of Superman– Written and directed by Gunn and starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and many more, it's a very intense film. So it had to go out of the box with a great, confident trailer, and it delivered. Watch James Gunn's first trailer. Superman–
There is much more to conclude. And we'll talk about all of this later. But first it must be announced to the public. Earlier this week, Gunn and a few of his stars spoke with the Warner Bros. lot, and Gunn said that what you just saw was as close to the movie as he could get without spoiling it. “I'm very strict with the trailer,” he says, “and it went through many iterations until I was happy with it. And there was only one thing on my mind (and) that the trailer had to be a true representation of the film. Of course, not every element that is in this movie is necessarily included. But it had to show what was at the heart of the film and the story we were telling. And I think it will. But it takes a lot of hard work to get to that point.”
That's why you get romance. You get action scenes. You get heroes and villains. And you can see Superman at his most vulnerable at the beginning of this trailer. (Gunn confirmed to io9 that the opening scene takes place shortly after the film ends Drop-you-in-the-middle-action opening That we revealed earlier this week..) Plus a very interesting turn of events. The trailer doesn't say it's for “Superman,” it says it was a decision made by “DC Studios.” We asked Gunn at the event. “It feels good,” he said. “We do these demos and they do all these tests. And I was like… I believe in testing.” I believe in the testing process and we have tested. Superman– But it's like you have to follow your instincts and what feels right… (And it) seems to be working.”
