The first trailer for Superman ushered in a new era of superhero movies.

Earlier this week, Gunn and a few of his stars spoke with the Warner Bros. lot, and Gunn said that what you just saw was as close to the movie as he could get without spoiling it. “I'm very strict with the trailer,” he says, “and it went through many iterations until I was happy with it. And there was only one thing on my mind (and) that the trailer had to be a true representation of the film. Of course, not every element that is in this movie is necessarily included. But it had to show what was at the heart of the film and the story we were telling. And I think it will. But it takes a lot of hard work to get to that point.”

That's why you get romance. You get action scenes. You get heroes and villains. And you can see Superman at his most vulnerable at the beginning of this trailer. The trailer doesn't say it's for “Superman,” it says it was a decision made by “DC Studios.” We asked Gunn at the event. “It feels good,” he said. “We do these demos and they do all these tests.
