Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is on trial Monday over allegations he accepted nearly 50 million euros in illegal campaign funding from late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. No stranger to French courts, Sarkozy, who has twice been convicted of separate crimes since leaving office, has described the charges as part of a conspiracy against him.
