BBC News, Los Angeles
It was a test that could dismantle the future for one of the hottest hip-hop stars.
The process of attacking crimes against $ AP Rocky in Los Angeles takes global outburst titles during production and surprising visits to the court by her longtime partner, singer Rihanna.
The jurors have heard three weeks of testimony, chronifying the bitter fall from childhood and fighting friends, which led to the rapper, whose real name is Rakim Myers, accused of accusing him to open fire in the middle of Hollywood Street.
A 12-member jury justified him, allowing the rapper to leave freely with the singer Rihanna, who was sitting behind him since the sentence was read.
Here are five big things we learned while in the courtroom.
1- Unsmperable support from Rihanna

As is not a guilty sentence It was read in court, the rapper immediately jumped out of the defense table and skipped over a wooden barrier to hug Rihanna, who was sitting behind him between her mother and sister.
The couple hugged firmly, and they both broke into tears when the courtroom burst into cheers.
Rihanna, performing the Grammy Award, was in court for several days during the process, including on Valentine's Day.
On one of the days in the court, she brought the two young children of the couple, who were both dressed in pacifier costumes in their mouth. You can hear them cool inside the courtroom as they flipped children's books.
Joe Takopina, the rapper's defense lawyer, said that G -Maers tried to protect Rihanna and their family from criminal proceedings, but said “wild horses could not keep her away from the process.
Although he was often stoic and stared straight ahead while she was in court, she never trembled or showed emotion when prosecutors made negative comments about her partner.
After her acquittal, Rihanna expressed her gratitude on social media, stating: “Glory belongs to God and God Himself! Thankful, humble by His mercy!”
2- A $ AP MOB breaks up?

A $ AP MOB is a hip-hop team founded in 2006 in Harlem by a group of friends at the New York High School.
They accepted the title “A $ AP” which means “you always strive and prosper”.
The group, which has more than 20 members over the years, presented themselves as a family, but they were struck by jealousy, rivalry and disagreement after the death of their founder, $ AP YAMS.
Although there were falls between some members, this process is the most remarkable case of complete dismantling of a connection between members.
A $ Ap Reli, whose legal name is Terell Ephron, He was once a close friend and member of the mafia, accused of G -N -Myers, known as $ AP Rocky, to shoot him during a dispute in 2021.
During the trial, his defense team claims that G -n -Efron took advantage of his ex -friend, feeling away, as the glory of A Ap Rocky grew and saw a major musical success. They claim that G -n -Efron is after money.
Several members of AAA AP MOB testified during the process in favor of G -N Mayers.
A $ AP Twelvyy disputes the story of G -N -Efron about events and suggested that he was the aggressor during the dispute, not the Majers.
A $ AP Lou also took the position by telling the jurors that Glock 43, found during the search for the home of G -Maiors, belongs to it, not the rapper.
None of the AA AP members publicly testifies to Reli.
3- “Awge” still a mystery?
Do you know what AWGE means? If you know, I think I and the jury would like to know.
During the test, Awge appeared when A $ AP Twelvyy was at the stand. He was asked by prosecutors about her meaning. But before he could answer, A $ AP Rocky – who had been sitting with his lawyers – cut off and shouted, “Don't say!”
Twelvvy followed and replied, “I just know it's Awge.”
It was an amazing moment. Thicks usually do not say much during the lawsuits – let alone stop a witness to answer a question during their criminal court hearing.
When asked about this exchange after the process, Ap Rocky's lawyer Joe Tacopina explained what happened.
He said it was “an abbreviation for his company, which is related to his family. I'll leave him on it.” Takopina continued to explain that this was a private thing that the rapper did not want to publicly reveal to millions, especially in a criminal court.
But the answer really led to more questions. What does this mean and why is it so secret?
Here's what we know: Awge is the name of the mysterious creative team and a sound label of A AP Rocky and has long been the subject of intrigue.
Founded in 2014, the band works in the field of music, fashion and art, collaborating brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Pacsun. Members include artists, designers and directors, and everyone remains loyal to one rule: no one publicly reveals what “awe” really means.
The company's website has two listed rules: ” #1 never reveals what AWGE means. #2 When you doubt, always treat Rule #1.”
However, the fans of $ AP Rocky have some assumptions:
- “Global Enterprises worldwide” – possible nodding of the wider brand and business ambitions of A $ AP MOB.
- “I don't want to go explicitly” – this suggests that Awge is an internal joke or a personal mantra in Rocky's circle.
- “All we have is everything” – a phrase that is aligned with the philosophy of Rocky's creativity and cooperation.
- “A $ AP Worldwide Genius Elite” – another theory that framed Awge as a highly cured group of artists and visionaries.
Despite the assumptions, the rapper and his team have never officially confirmed any meaning.
Instead, they have tilted into the secret, with members often answering questions about Awge with the phrase “If you know, you know.”
4- The height of glory of $ Ap Rocky

The $ AP Rocky test unfolded at a core career, with the rapper riding a wave of creative and commercial success.
The rapper is ready to release his first solo album in nearly a decade and is planned to jointly title “Rolling Loud Festival” by Los Angeles in March 2025.
He also participated in a summer blockbuster with Denzel Washington. Director Spike Lee's upcoming movie “The Highest 2 Largest” is scheduled for a summer edition.
But its influence extends beyond the music-its Awge Collective collaborates with brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Puma. He is also celebrated with his fashion sense and is known as one of the best dressed men of music.
In May, he will be the co -chair of the Met Gala Met – one of the biggest nights of fashion – along with big names like Anna Wintour, the driver of British racing cars Lewis Hamilton, singer Farrell Williams and basketball superstar Lebron James.
His relationship with Rihanna, one of the most famous singers, further cemented his cultural significance.
The couple welcomed their second child, Riot Rose in August 2023, and their growing family became a symbol of hip-hop royalty.
5- beef between lawyers
The process was not just a battlefield for the freedom of the rapper – he also saw intense clashes between legal teams.
Celebrity Defense Lawyer Joe Tacopina, known for his aggressive courtroom style, mercilessly disputes the confidence of the key witness of the prosecutor's office, $ AP Reli, whose legal name is Terel Efron.
He paints G -n -Efron as an opportunist who seeks financial profit and called the prosecutor's case because of lack of physical evidence. G -Efron was so tired of the rapper's lawyer during an interrogation that he called the tacopin “annoying”.
In the meantime, prosecutors backed away, accusing the tacopin of trying to intimidate witnesses and reject key testimony.
Both sides were very liberal with the use of objections in court, and sometimes it had the feeling that both sides were trying to throw the other out of their game instead of being based on legal instructions.
In addition, there is personally between the two countries.
At one point, during the closing arguments, the tacopin and the prosecutor John Levin traded accusations of misconduct, with the Levin accusing d -tacopin of using steroids and tacopin, calling Levin for “return”.
After a brief break, the judge tried to ease the mood by theatrically introducing lawyers as boxers before reopening the process.
