Do not fly your drone into an active forest fire. Capturing a video of the damage may be tempting, but it can also put firefighters at a loss for business. That's exactly what happened on January 9th when a drone collided with a Super Scooper fire truck in Los Angeles. The LA Times reports..
It happened while battling the worst wildfire in LA history, with thousands of homes burned to death. at least 10. The drone crash caused the aircraft to abort its mission and was taken down for repairs. Photos of the plane show a noticeable hole in one of its wings:
Police are now trying to find out who flew the drone, The LA Times reported, and the FAA is investigating the incident. The LA Fire Department has warned that flying a drone while fighting a fire could result in 12 months in jail or a $75,000 fine.
