A fierce LA fire burns behind a CBS reporter


The fire burning in Pacific Palisades, an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood near Malibu and Santa Monica, is growing at an alarming rate.

Its trajectory is fueled by ferocious wind—dry winds from the mountains to the north and east and down toward the Los Angeles coast that are called the Santa Ana winds.

CBS News, the BBC's American partner, has correspondent Danya Backus reporting from the scene. She explains how the “explosive” inferno grows, with gusts of wind sending embers spreading the flames.
