Five people were rescued after they survived 36 hours on the plane in the swamp infected with the Olivian Amazon after they were forced to make an emergency landing, local officials and pilot reported on Friday.
Everyone aboard a woman, a child and a 29-year-old pilot, was rescued from his perch on a covered plane in a “excellent condition,” said Wilson Avila, director of the Center for emergency operations in the Benny region.
The plane was traveling from Baras to the North Central City Trinidad when it was troubled.

Andres Veellard, a 29-year-old pilot of a single-science plane, told the local media out of his hospital bed that the plane suddenly began to lose height.
He was looking for an open space for landing, but had to agree to the swamp near the lagoon.
The five were “surrounded by alligators who passed three meters from us,” Veellard said, adding that he suspected that the gas leak from the plane kept predators in fear.
He said they also saw an anacod in muddy waters.
For nutrition, they ate a local manic flour, which one of the passengers brought on the trip.
“We couldn't drink water, and we couldn't go anywhere with the alligators,” Velerde said.
The search and rescue mission was launched on Thursday after the plane disappeared from the radar.
