Brooklyn worker housing for the homeless he was brutally stabbed outside the facility on Thursday night, police said.
The horrific incident took place at a Days Inn hotel that had been converted into a city hall on East New York Avenue in the Brownsville neighborhood.

The unnamed worker, aged 35, was attacked at around 6.20pm, after which he ran into the building to seek help. He was stabbed multiple times in the neck and abdomen, and was bleeding profusely in the guest room when paramedics arrived, who took him to Brookdale Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are looking for the suspect, who was dressed in black, wearing a baseball cap and a ski mask.

One neighbor told the New York Post that, “They've turned all the hotels around here into shelters during the COVID. There's four or five more here. Lots of stings. A lot of problems.”

New York City has struggled with violent crime on its streets and public transportation, a problem only exacerbated by the influx of illegal immigrants arriving without a home. Mayor Eric Adams has repeatedly expressed frustration with the federal government and argued that the city lacks the resources to care for them.
